We are delighted to hear that the first Hopgarden Pony, Hopgarden Hidalgo to be put forward for the Stringent CHAPS Grading, has passed so is now dual Graded CHAPS & BSPA.
2010 Chaps Champs have proved to be very sucessful for us, Starting with the foal futurity, Hopgarden Avatar ( Harry ) won his section( under Nigel Hollings and Sue Rawding), then in the evening performance, his temperement shone through, and he went on to be overall 2nd foal.
H.Hanky Panky & Abbeywood Jessica Rabbit both acheived over 80 % in their youngstock evaluations, giving them the prestigeous first premiums.
Hanky Panky also was 1st in the 2 year old qualifier finals championship, and reserve champion, 2nd in open qualifier finals championship,3rd part bred arab, 2nd part bred welsh,1st in the 2&3 year old mixed height/type breeders challenge and went on to be reserve champion. His owners Kathryn and Noel where there to see his success.
Abbeywood Jessica Rabbit had a 2nd in her yearling finals- mum felt it was too far to come and watch this show though!
A short clip of each of the ponies, kindly made by Molly Vasanthakumar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjjuA09JPZU
Rabbit was thrown in at the deep end on 1st August at her first show, Cranleigh. It is a fairly big 1 day agricultural type show, so lots to see for her first show.

Chuckles once again proved his outstanding calm nature at the new forest show, when the lines had been pulled in, the cossacks and heavy horses scattered the line ups, but Chuckles watched with interest!! He went on to win the CHAPS open NN class against animals much older than himself.
Hidalgo had 2 sucessful outings Recently, gaining a 2nd at Prestige Events, and a 2nd at Nantwich Show, BSPA Coloureds.
Darling Hollys Blue Mink (Wingrove Minkino ex Holly of Spring) gave birth on the 4th July, to a very strong chestnut colt, by Copybush Chiron.
Chuckles once again proved his outstanding temperement, having been covering up until 36 hours before the show. The 30' temperatures at the Hickstead Derby did nothing to curb his enthusiasm for life, and he picked up many admirers, a stud enquiry, and 2 x 3rd places! One in the Non Native open, and one in the open youngstock.
Daisy qualified for BSPA Champs, at Horsham & District Riding Club Show with
1st BSPA Open Coloured Youngstock
2nd BSPA Open N/C/T
2nd of June was Horrific. Herbie's routine was out at night, in during the day. I arrived at the yard on the wednesday morning, to find Herbie had jumped the 3 rails of brand new post and rail, topped with Electric, but had clearly caught himself on the way. He looked to have been tinopened from front to back, and through all the muscle, which had exposed the intestines, he was PTS immediately. RIP Baby Herbert Sherbert xx
Tocottas Spring Dream Maker had a leggy coloured colt, at 1.21am on 30th May. He is called Harry, but yet to think of a registered name!
Darling Chuckles was a very good boy at his first show of the year, winning one class, a second in another, and gaining a Red Preferred in the Youngstock Evaluations.
After 18 days sleeping outside of Lilibets Stable, she had a Chestnut and white Colt in the field at approx 11am on the 6th May!! He is a very big boy, by Copybush Chiron, and looks remarkably like his Uncle Tarquin,
May saw Horse Deals with and double page article on coloureds, Included in it, Hopgarden Stud.

Typical of Tinker, her first foal was a few days late, and born on April Fools!!! He is called Tomfoolery, a very cheeky Bay & White Colt.
Chuckles went off to Groomsbridge Stud, just outside Newmarket, where he had a wonderful stay being Dummy Trained.
Many thanks to Jamie Anderson Of Pelion Stud,
